Blog Post # 4 ch. 5

The Dark, Silent Meeting

Ralph's Journal:

It is a silent night, The trees sway in the wind, and the fire moves from the winds push. Everyone sits along the fire and we eat the dinner  Jack has prepared for us.  I tear little pieces of meat one at a time and slowly eat it. The taste of the meat doesn't matter to me, because I can only think of what my next move will be as leader. I look around at all the boys. Simon isn't eating. Then  Jack yells out, " I got you food now eat it!" He was as mad as a tempestuously storm. All the boys turn their heads giving Jack their attention. He  tears off a piece of meat from the roasted pig and throws it across the floor hitting Simon's feet. Simon grabs the meat, and eats it slowly with out any show of efiggy at all.  Jack starts to eat his meat again, starring Simon down, making sure he eats. I finish up the piece of meat I was eating, biting off every little piece of meat off and around the bone of the pig. I finished the bone with a lick and then I had a thought in my head.

As I thought more I decided to have a meeting. I yell out to the boys, " We are having a meeting, and I don't care if it is dark out!" I get up and start to walk down the mountain, and everyone follows. As I walk down the  mountain I think, with the dry sand sticking to the bottom of my feet, bundling up in between my toes. I realized then that it was time for me to take on the responsibility of being a leader, and this time I needed to prove that I was their leader. I am almost down the mountain where a little slope brings me down the mountain to a flat surface. I walk into the forest where we usually always have our meetings. I walk from the dry sand to the moist cold grass sending  a prick of thrill though my body.  I stand in the grass with a cold breeze rubbing against me now and then, as I wait for the other boys to come down the mountain.

The boys sit down on the logs and some on the floor of the damp grass. Piggy walks towards me and stands by my side, and start to speak. I tell them," This meeting is business and nothing more." Some littleluns start to giggle, but I don't mind. " Everything was fine in the beginning, we were happy, but now... now things are a mess. some little ones started to lamentation a little but then stopped to here the rest. We have no fresh water, no cups. " If you need to use the bathroom go away from where it will get into our fresh water, go over there by those bushes or something." Then with he fire, we will only use the fire on the mountain to cook no where else, that way if you are cooking up there you will be able to watch the fire. Don't any of you want to be rescued, if you do we have to work together and follow all the rules. Piggy wants to speak, but I see a little boy who would like to speak, I give him the conch. The little boy starts to speak. He says he had seen the beast. I asked where he saw the beast, and then asked if anyone where out in the forest. Simon raises his hand. I was surprised. "Simone?" I said. Well where were you going? " I was going to my special place in the forest." Simon said. Then I made another rule. " There will be no wondering in the forest at night. Simon reached for the conch to speak. " What if there really is a beast?" Said Simon.  I looked at Jack as he rolled is eyes jeeringly and grabbed the conch from Simon. There is no beast, and if there were i will kill it and then there will be no more beast. The littluns were happy to here what Jack had to say. Jack gathered his hunters and they excitedly discursived around walking   into the forest to hunt. With them all gone, all who was left were Simon, Piggy, and me. I left walking to the huts that I have made with Simon. I kicked the sand and smoke from the sand appeared. Piggy and Simon were left in the night, as they followed behind me to the huts as the night grew darker.
