Book Review: Anne Frank

Book Review: The Diary of a Young Girl
By: Haileigh Smith

The story “The Diary of a Young Girl”, is about young girl named Anne Frank, Anne Frank is a young teenage girl that hides with her and another family the van Daans. Anne lives with her father Otto Frank, her mother Edith Frank, her sister Margaret, and the van Daans, Mr. and Mrs. van Daan, and their son Peter van Daan. They all have different personalities, giving it that twist in her diary entries about the two families.

The two families lived together in an attic in Otto Franks Business Building. The two families live in the attic hiding from the Nazis, because the Nazis are capturing the Jews. This story is based on The two families lives, ass Anne writes about what goes on, with a background of World War II when the Germans took over Amsterdam, and were putting all the Jews into concentration camps.

The diary talks about Anne Frank’s life in hiding. Anne Frank’s diary expresses much of her feelings, such as romance, truth, frustration, and hope. Before Anne had to go into hiding in the secret “annex” (attic), she lived at home, where she had her thirteenth birthday. For her thirteenth birthday she got many gifts, including the diary. Anne ended up calling her diary Kitty. In the diary Anne Frank truly pours her heart out into her diary Kitty, she tells her diary Kitty everything, her crushes, her feelings towards family, her frustrations, and days that go by. Before she had to hide in the secret “annex” (attic), she lived at home, where she had her thirteenth birthday. For her thirteenth birthday she got many gifts, including the diary. Anne ended up calling her diary Kitty. Every day is interesting, even though she lives inside an attic, something is always happening. Anne writes in her diary, because she writes of what she is missing, writing in her diary is all she has. She can’t go outside and play with kids, or friends. All she can do is watch and write about the days that happen outside the attic, and inside the attic. Though Anne used to live a normal life where she could go outside and play with her friends. She could enjoy every moment of it she could enjoy the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze of the air.

Anne Frank’s life has been turned into a book. Reading this book is reading years of Anne’s life squeezed into a diary, and you can experience it. “The Diary of a Young Girl”, is a book that takes you through the highs and lows of Anne’s life. Reading the book allows the reader to experience what life was like during the Holocaust Period of World War II and what it was like to be the one that was being hunted by some of the most inhumane people in society, all because of a religious affiliation.

In all I think this book is a great book, and would recommend this book to anyone who finds reading about things that have happened years ago, like an artifact. The book really gives you a perspective of what it was like during World War II. I have to say if you are into books like this one, then you should read this book. I would like to tell you more about Anne and her family, but I don’t want to ruin the book for you.

Chapter Thirteen

Chapter 13 Haileigh Smith

The Boys who Survived

The yelling goes down from when the boys were chasing Ralph, the boys all walk onto the ship. They all look around picking out blue cushioned seats on the ship. The seats were covered in a soft cushion, that when you sit down it had a n ice feeling on your bum, instead of sitting on hard rock. Ralph looks around the to find a bed found to the back of the ship. He climbed up onto the bunk and rests his head, trying to catch his breath from the dreadful chase. He lays there and is his heart pumps faster. Ralph's sits up on the bed, and looks out the window through the blue seas, that glitters from the suns reflection. The window which looks as if it was hooked up on to the wall like a picture frame. Ralph thought to himself while all the other boys were wondering around the ship.

Ralph says, “What if Piggy could come home? What if Simon?”

He stared out to the sea and wondered if he could ever come home to his family, or to nobody because of the war. Ralph rests his head on the bed and stares to the ceiling.

Eric says, “Sam look!”

Eric bounced on the bed and said “It's bouncy!”

Sam jumped on the bed and started laughing.

The Naval Officer said, “Everyone we are leaving the island now.”

Everyone ignored him and had their fun. Jack sat in a chair and looked relax, but he was frustrated.

Jack whispered under his breath, “I should of stayed at the island, I would've been chief. Now I am just plain Jack, no ruler, no nothing.”

Jack turns to Maurice and says, “Hey Maurice can we talk? I need someone to talk to , so I don't look like an idiot talking to myself.

Maurice says, “Sure.”

Jack says, “I feel so different, like stress has released from my soldiers. I feel more civilized I guess. I mean now that I think about, I feel like some savage.”

Maurice says, “Me too, well kind of.”

Jack says, “I like being leader though.”

Maurice says, “Hmmmm.”

Maurice smiles and looks toward to Sam n Eric jumping on the beds. Jack follows Maurice's eyes and his eyes lead to Sam n Eric.

Jack says, “Hey, lets go do what Sam n Eric are doing.”

They both get up and find a bed next to Sam n Eric and start to jump up and down.

Soon later after a long time of jumping the boys and all get tired and start to fall asleep, some play around with string on there chair or their long hair. They boys slept, and the officer patroled the boat, making sure everything is working fine and determined to get the kids homes safe. He walked into the room, all the boys are sleeping, some boys drooling on the soft cushiony pellows and some looking like they are having good dreams. The officer got back to leaving the boat to where he saw land. Soon after he hit land and went to the side of the boat and he and some of his men dropped the heavy anchor on to the bottom of the ocean floor. He walked into the room where the boys slept and started to wake the boy closest to the door and soon after they all arose to their dreams. The officer walked back onto the deck of the boat , you could hear the thump of him walking on the hallow floor.

Sam n Eric run to Ralph's bed and yell. “Ralph Ralph, wake up!”

To voices speak at once.

Sam n Eric say, “ Ralph we can go home now.”

The boys on the ship jump up and down waiting to get home to see their families.

Ralph wakes up from the loud screams of happiness, and they were home. The world I have been waiting to say for so long.

Ralph says, “Home.”

Ralph walks up to the hollow deck, the warmth of the sun shining on to him.

They all walk off the boat an finally yell out, “Home at last!”

Blog Post # 8 Ch. 11 and 12

Final Awakening

Ralph's Journal:

I wake up to a cold breeze, I look around to seek a cold fire of black ashes.  I awake to a crying Piggy. He sobs as he speaks of his stolen glasses.  Tears roll down his face and role off his chin. I look at him in sorrow, and decide to call a meeting. I grabbed the light butterscotch cream conch shell and blow into it, I call for my tribe. The boys scurried to the soft sanded beach and stood in my presents. I tell the boys. Now everyone, there is only one thing we can do right now, Piggy can't see with ought his glasses so we have to go get them specs back.
The boys stared at me and said, " We are ready Ralph."
I safely led my tribe into the forest and carefully pulled Piggy along.
We passed through the vines and the ruffled dirt of the forest an finally got to Jacks side of camp called Castle Rock. As we start to walk towards the sight to boys from Jacks camp approached us. Jacks so called guards.
Hack walks over to see me and his guards talking ad he watches his hunters dragged their dead pig.
He jumps down off the rocks and takes out a spear. I take out my spear and we battle. I swung from the side and he pecked my leg with his spear. I swung side of Jacks left and caught his cheek and ear. As I bring back my spear, we are interrupted by Piggy who takes out the conch and holds it in the air. He yells out, " I've got the conch, so listen up!"
Jacks tribe is in silence and then spits out in laughter. They laugh.
Still laughing Piggy tries to get their attention again. " I've got the conch, I've got the conch!"
Piggy struggles to speak.
I hear a noise from the top of the Castle Rock mountain. I look up and before I know it the giant boulder beside Roger has now crushed Piggy.
"Noooooo!!!"
The giant boulder lands tumbling onto the ground crushing the shells to pieces and all left of the shell is powder of white and a little bit of butterscotch gold.
Piggy has gone off into the ocean. I look over the mountain to see Piggy being swept away by the ocean in one blink. The bloody water sways and the air stays still, and he did it truculently.
With Eric and Sam captured and Piggy gone, and then there is Jacks group who all are holding spear, I was scared and dashed off into the forest.

I hide in the forest from the hunters chasing after me, as I hear there hunting call as the boys ululation until they got to the end of the island. I ran deeper into the forest knowing they were near. I see there plan is to get in a cordon till they finally trap me. I find myself trapped at the end of the island and decide to hide myself. I thought of myself as a Pig hiding. I hide in a dark little den and the hunters pass me, as the search carefully. Then a boy from the tribe looks straight into my eyes trying to look through the smoke of the fire on the island. He calls out for the others and I get up and dash to the sandy hot sand on the beach. I trip on a pile of dry hot sand of the beach and fell upon shiny black boots. I look up at the army pants up to his shoulders covered in epaulettes and then my eyes lead to his face. The face of an actual adult that I have seen so long ago. I stare at his face and tears swerve down my face as I sob, I can hear the boys from Jacks tribe and they all scream and go into silence and come to a cessation to see the men along the beach. The last words that ever crossed me from that day were, "What is going on here." That's what saved me that day.

Blog Post # 7 Ch: 9 and 10

Great Chief served Royal
Jacks Journal:

It is light out side  with clouds move around faster than ever.  My tribe and I walk from out of the cool forest to invite everyone from Ralph's side of the camp to join my camp instead of Ralph's. As my group and I make the transition of the soft prickly wet grass to the cool and warm mixed  sand that mixed in between my toes. My group and I walked over to Ralph and Piggy and everyone else in there camp.
" What do you want?" said Piggy
"Well we are here to invite anyone who wanted to come to my camp." " You can join when ever  you want."
Piggy and Ralph look at each other and gave each other a look. They looked back at me and were quiet. I whispered "now".
The two hunters from my camp yelled out, " The chief has spoken."Just as we planned.
It felt so nice that I was finally chief, though Ralph was the real chief I was chief of my camp. I smirked as they both looked at me as if I was crazy.
"Lets go." I yelled out. I led my hunters and new members of the tribe into the forest.
The cool wet grass felt good on my feet from the warm sand, but I could feel the dirt collecting on my foot. We walked into the forest, the branches grabbing at my foot and arms. As I led my tribe I thought, once again I Jack Merridew got what I wanted. When my group and I went over a couple of pig rocks and we were at our camp site. Castle Rock.  We all gather round and I order round. " Everyone, Do the dance, our hunting dance." We gathered around and started to dance, we acted out all our killings, we chanted and sang. Giggled and screamed. As we danced around I saw a dark shadow come out of the forest. It was raining and dark. Everyone fallowed my eyes and I yelled out "CHARGE!"
We all ran down to the beach were the beast was running. As we ran in the sand our feet kicked up sand which landed in our faces. The beast was coming closer, we all yelled out in a delirious way Ahhhhh!!!! I looked up and could see a corpulent shape. I thought it was my imagination.
The beast was talking I could here it. Talking about a dead man on the hill, but I was to scared to focus on what the beast was saying. We caught up with the beast and stabbed it. Ripping his skin apart. It cried and moved ferociously. It yelled out screaming and crying " Dead man, Dead man on hill!" We rip the  bloody flesh with our teeth and our spears. We don't stop from fear. We all chant "Kill the beast, Bash him in , Spill his blood!" We repeated over and over again.
"Kill the beast, Bash him in, Spill his blood. I stabbed him with my pointed spear and struck it into the beasts body, As I pulled it out its flesh tore sticking to the stick and them flapping down. I took my stick out of his bloody body and blood dripped. The beast crawled out of the circle and flopped to the side and with all strength left he made the right choice of finally dying. We stared at the beast and looked away at a job well done as the ocean dragged him in. With a kill of the beast done I order the camp to sleep. I walk up some hills with my troops and find a splotch of grass and lay under the stars for a tomorrow I have plans. I look at the dark sky and my heart beats fast, my eyes struggle to stay open. I could see the purged sky that was covered with fear. I took a breath and blew out and fell asleep.
I wake up with the sun shinning as bright as it could in my face. The sun was a long piece of phosphorescence. I lift my arm over my eyes to block the sun. I get up and boys still sleep. I stretch my arms and yawn. Something came over. Some kind of anger, and I wanted it gone. I felt barmy, but I knew that it wasn't true. I just had anger bottled up inside. I grabbed Maurice and Roger and Wilfred. I pointed at Wilfred. "Tie him up!" Wilfred was frightened, didn't know what was going on. They tied him up and I gave Roger the honor of whipping him.
"SMACK!" The sound of the first whip was fierce. The front of the vine hit first and from there the rest. Like a snake moving through thick tall grass. Its head moves first and then the rest slithers along. We whipped Wilfred again again. He whimpered and whined. We whipped him and his back slithered. We sent quivers down his back. We cut the vines and he crawled away. While us older boys laughed at his pain.  We hunted the day and messed around. Took a day off from hunting.
It reached dawn and the sun was setting, and then it hit me. We needed fire so I gathered the hunters and I planned. " Hunters gather round." I told them the plan, we waited a while till the wimps were asleep, and we sneaked into the forest. It was dark and cold branches came up out of no where grabbing me. We reached the huts and I looked at the boys and nodded. They new the plan and the boys whispered " Come out Piggy, We want you. We could here whispers inside the hut as we tapped on their shelter. We started to ambush. We attacked there shelters and pushed their hut down.
I reached for Piggy and grabbed his glasses.
" I got em', I got em'!" We ran into the forest out of sight. We ran to our camp sight a took a breather. We rested in the grass and gazed at the glasses waiting for the sun tomorrow to come. I gazed at the glasses as every one fell asleep and so not much later my eyes we tired and I was to weak to move. So I stretched and yawned, turned to my side and closed my eyes.

Lord of The Flies, The Beast?

Simon's Journal

The news had come, the beast was real. The words had slipped from Jacks mouth. As soon as everyone heard, they were scared. Everyone was scared out of there minds. Oddly JAck sounded so demure, even I was scared.  I mean, I could wake up in the mouth of the beast without even knowing. I froze looking at jacks mouth closing and opening, I thought of the beast eating me as it replayed in my mind over and over again.

Ralph was right, who thinks that the hunters could kill the beast, "they are just boys armed with sticks," and who is Jack to say he would make a better chief. All Jack wants to do is hunt. He lost the second vote for chief too, then out of the blue, after Ralph won again, Jack broke down n tears. Jack had enough, he was done, done with the fight over being chief done with the struggle of power. Ralph studdered to say something, but Jack said, " No Ralph, I'm done playing,"" If you wish you can join me," and Jack ran off into the forest crying. The boys all looked at Ralph and said sorry, leaving Ralph in the dust as they ran after Jack.
I left too, but not to join Jacks side of the camp, but to leave to my secret  hide out away from all this disaster that was happening.

I walked into the forest where the small broken branches from the trees poked at my feet, and the soft mud that was mushy like the wet sand at the bottom. I looked back to see Ralph and that wise paunched Piggy.  I turn my head back to look at the path that I walked along. I walk further into the forest, and faster. I thought of the beasty, I got a little spooked and started to walk faster. The thoguht kept replaying in my mind, like a scary movie that you wished you never saw, but there are some things yo can never un-see, and things you can never un -think. I started to run to get to get to my secret place to be safe. As I ran the leaves from trees and bushes brushed upon my face and the wind whispering in my ear, "run, run" I run faster, almost tripping, I shake my head becasue of the fiction thought of it all. I dive to the floor and crawl along the muddy and dry sand into the cave of my secret place. I take some breaths to get myself together, my special place, where all my thoughts can not be stolen, a place where I can think without anyone knowing. I look around.

I opened the mossy like curtains that covered the cave and observed the beauty of the island. The shadow of my cave like room hovering over me , a strip of light shining across my face from my right ear, to my left cheek. The light blue sky with nearly a cloud in sight. The ocean blue swaying back and forth. I stare at the ocean as the wave crash onto the sand of the beach. My eyes are interrupted by to yellow butterflies circling around each other , playing around. The two butterflies that play around lead my eyes to another part of the forest. I turn my head to see my eyes set on what seems to be a, I swallow deeply, a sow's head. He head drops on the stick do stiffly. Her demoniac face spotted pink and black. He snout still holding a moist look to it, flies surround her. Her blood drops down the pointed stick. I tilt my head to the side. The sow, she speaks. I stare at the sow's head in disbelief. The sow speaks again.
"You'll never escape here," the sow says.
My eyes gaze into her mouth, her tongue hangs out.
The sow speaks again, " You won't escape me, you are trapped."
I scoot further back into the cave. I put my legs up against my chest and I hold myself.
" You boy lie in all the human beings." The sow head says.
My eyebrows scoot together and go up, I show her fear I can feel it, and she can to.
The sow speaks saying, "There will be fun, there will be fun here on this island."
That wasn't true, not according to Ralph rules that rule was a taboo rule.
" I promise you there will be fun."
I want to run, and get ready.
The sow sees me  move, she knows something.
I get scared. I wanted to get rid of this fiction story I was making up. I pictured myself in school being the prefect student in my class. It didn't work, the sow interrupted.
"You can't run away from me, there is no way."
She taunts me some more, and I start to feel dizzy, and sick, I think it is from  a dead head of a pig is talking to me.
I look into her eyes and her mouth. I stare for a while and the sow speaks on and on.
I feel light headed, and start to block out the sound of the sows voice out of my mind. I shake and whisper under my breath, " Lord of the Flies."
Everything starts to blur, as I struggle to see. I feel my eyes roll back, and all I can see is.......
(I FAINT)

Blog Post # 5 ch 6 and 7

Shadow of the Moon

Piggy's Journal:

I gasp from a loud noise, I move from side to side wondering what is going on.  feel for my glasses on the cool sand.  I pick them up ad see Sam and Eric yelling, "Ralph! Ralph wake up!" Ralph tiredly wakes up and Sam an Eric yell out, "We saw the beastie, we saw it in the trees!" Ralph slowly gets up squatting and then rising as he tries to calm the boys down. I get up to see what is going on. I push my self up as the cool sand sinks from the pressure of my weight as i pull my self up.  I walk over to Ralph. It is  cool morning and the sun is still sleeping, but with all the commotion that we are making it rises fast to see what we are doing, for it cannot sleep no longer. Sam and Eric talk to Ralph some more to tell him what they saw, and Ralph decides to call a meeting.  When I hear him call everyone, I just wanted to sleep some more, I mean really a meeting in the morning at the break of dawn. Uggggh. We all gather round, except the littluns, they are sleeping. Ralph says to us boys "We are having a hunt for the beast." " Sam and Eric have claimed to see the beast, and we are going to hunt it." "This beastie is no more." Jack looks at Ralph and then the other boys, he seems surprised of what Ralph just said. Jack smiles. Jack and his hunters together a long with Ralph and they scream "YEAH!" and they run off into the forest leaving me with the littleuns. I watch the boys run into the forest with the dust from the sand swings in the air and slowly disappears.

I turn my back to go back to the huts to sleep some more. I turn a whole hundred and thirty degrees around and AHHH! " You littluns scared me, I thought you were sleeping." They started to giggle and were off playing.  I whimpered a little because of the early wakening. Now I have to watch the littluns till Ralph, Jack and his hunters get back. " Great." I sit in the cool sand with my legs crossed and my hands squeezing the sand till it all falls out like a sand storm. My eyes concentrate on the ice cold ocean water that is completely interminable, as the littluns roll around in the sand and make there sand castles. My eyes then fall onto the two boys running into the ocean water and dashing right out because of the cold temperature. The day rises and the sun is shining down on me as I walk along the beach thinking if what the hunters and Ralph are doing. Then I looked down at the floor of the damp used to be dried beach. I see my reflection from the little bits of water that lay ashore with the sun shining down on it. The gentle whispers of the ocean swaying back and forth washing over my dirty brown feet. i spin around walking back the way I came so that I don't wander to far from the littluns. I walk back and I get closer and closer to them and then before I know it I am sitting in the sand helping the littluns build there sand castles. I said to my self, it is quite mutinously that the littluns are silent. We messed around stomping on them and protecting them from the ocean waves trying to drag it into the see like a helpless shell tumbling around as the waters current pulls it back and forth. We were being so windy, fools just messing around.

The day goes by fast, all ready the sun getting ready for bed. My hands are pruned and my legs are sore from sitting. My cuts I had from a while ago burned from the brine, but I didn't noticed till slid my fingers against the cuts to get the sand off. I was impervious, but I just had to wipe the sand off and now my cuts hurt. I didn't show with expressions because I wanted to seem brave though my cuts were surrounded by redness.  I  tell the littluns, " Okay, littluns it is getting late and we need to stay together because when it is dark it is hard to see." " So stay together." It gets darker and darker. "littleuns, it is time to go to bed now, it is really dark out side and we need to get some sleep." I gather all the littluns and we all walk over to the huts where we will sleep. I hold a little boys hand who is about to fall asleep right by my side. We reach the huts and I set the little boy to sleep, and then walk around to every other little boy. I sit in the shelter feeling unprotected waiting for the hunters to come back. The moonlight shines down through the slits in the hut. The shadow of the moon lays across the ocean. The ocean sways and the wind whistles, as I watch the stars blink off and on. My eyes quiver and I struggle to keep them open, and with the stars gone and then all things around me disappear, it is truly a dark peaceful night.

Blog Post # 4 ch. 5

The Dark, Silent Meeting

Ralph's Journal:

It is a silent night, The trees sway in the wind, and the fire moves from the winds push. Everyone sits along the fire and we eat the dinner  Jack has prepared for us.  I tear little pieces of meat one at a time and slowly eat it. The taste of the meat doesn't matter to me, because I can only think of what my next move will be as leader. I look around at all the boys. Simon isn't eating. Then  Jack yells out, " I got you food now eat it!" He was as mad as a tempestuously storm. All the boys turn their heads giving Jack their attention. He  tears off a piece of meat from the roasted pig and throws it across the floor hitting Simon's feet. Simon grabs the meat, and eats it slowly with out any show of efiggy at all.  Jack starts to eat his meat again, starring Simon down, making sure he eats. I finish up the piece of meat I was eating, biting off every little piece of meat off and around the bone of the pig. I finished the bone with a lick and then I had a thought in my head.

As I thought more I decided to have a meeting. I yell out to the boys, " We are having a meeting, and I don't care if it is dark out!" I get up and start to walk down the mountain, and everyone follows. As I walk down the  mountain I think, with the dry sand sticking to the bottom of my feet, bundling up in between my toes. I realized then that it was time for me to take on the responsibility of being a leader, and this time I needed to prove that I was their leader. I am almost down the mountain where a little slope brings me down the mountain to a flat surface. I walk into the forest where we usually always have our meetings. I walk from the dry sand to the moist cold grass sending  a prick of thrill though my body.  I stand in the grass with a cold breeze rubbing against me now and then, as I wait for the other boys to come down the mountain.

The boys sit down on the logs and some on the floor of the damp grass. Piggy walks towards me and stands by my side, and start to speak. I tell them," This meeting is business and nothing more." Some littleluns start to giggle, but I don't mind. " Everything was fine in the beginning, we were happy, but now... now things are a mess. some little ones started to lamentation a little but then stopped to here the rest. We have no fresh water, no cups. " If you need to use the bathroom go away from where it will get into our fresh water, go over there by those bushes or something." Then with he fire, we will only use the fire on the mountain to cook no where else, that way if you are cooking up there you will be able to watch the fire. Don't any of you want to be rescued, if you do we have to work together and follow all the rules. Piggy wants to speak, but I see a little boy who would like to speak, I give him the conch. The little boy starts to speak. He says he had seen the beast. I asked where he saw the beast, and then asked if anyone where out in the forest. Simon raises his hand. I was surprised. "Simone?" I said. Well where were you going? " I was going to my special place in the forest." Simon said. Then I made another rule. " There will be no wondering in the forest at night. Simon reached for the conch to speak. " What if there really is a beast?" Said Simon.  I looked at Jack as he rolled is eyes jeeringly and grabbed the conch from Simon. There is no beast, and if there were i will kill it and then there will be no more beast. The littluns were happy to here what Jack had to say. Jack gathered his hunters and they excitedly discursived around walking   into the forest to hunt. With them all gone, all who was left were Simon, Piggy, and me. I left walking to the huts that I have made with Simon. I kicked the sand and smoke from the sand appeared. Piggy and Simon were left in the night, as they followed behind me to the huts as the night grew darker.

Post # 3 Lord of the Flies

The Kill

Jack's Journal:

I'm  making my way down the forest to where all the other boys are, I come back from a long sweaty hunt. I almost caught that pig hiding in the bushes, but I missed. I walk onto the damp sand of the beach where cool air brushes up against my face, it feels good. I stand for a seconds to relax in the cool air, and then make my way down to Ralph and Simon.  Ralph looks at me  in a frustrated way, he yelled out, where have you been?" " Well I was in the forest of course, trying to catch us some meat." I said. Ralph doesn't look pleased. Ralph said all the other boys have been swimming around in the water for ours. No one besides Simon here was helping make huts." " Right Simon?" "Where did Simon go?" " Look what you did, you made him angry too , that you and your hunters aren't helping to make the huts." "But we need meat." I said. Ralph started to speak again. " We have  half of a hut and it keeps falling a part, and all you do is hunt. We don't need any food, we need shelter. I didn't understand  how we couldn't have meat, but we could have shelter, and meat was more important. So I said " We need meat!" I couldn't help myself, trying to get meat was compulsion to me, to show them what I could really do. We argued a little more until I got tired of it and left to take a little walk in the forest, to get all the stress of my mind.

I wonder through the forest where I here branches falling and sounds of giggles. I  assume it was the littluns, I pass them and they don't even notice me. They jump up and down trying to reach the ripe fruits hanging from the trees, as for now that is there only food.   I walk deeper into the forest swatting flies  that fly in my way. I step over branches and move branches out of my way. The branches cut me but I don't flinch. I follow a path that brings me to another part of the beach on the island. I walk closer to the beach and the wet muddy sand sticks to my feet holding me down. I walk behind a palm tree and lay against it, with my arms crossed and one foot stepping on the trunk of the tree. I think.

I look around the beach and see littluns making sand castles with the thick muddy sand. I watch as a boy named Maurice starts to stomp on the littluns castles. Another boy name Roger steps into view and he joins in on the stomping. Stopping the boys, I gather them and my other hunters and head back into the forest. I gather the rest of my troop  that play around. I  walk up the mountain thought he mountain with my hunters and gather Sam and Eric who are supposed to be watch the fire, but or my plan of catching a pig to work i need them as well. I find Sam and Eric watching the fire and ask them " Sam, Eric lets hunt." They make up excuses not to hunt. They say, "but, we are watching the fire." I look at them, and they get the message. " Now, get into two single file lines, and we will be on our way." I turn my back and we start to walk deeper into the forest.

Me an the hunter moved around trees, and step over branches, with the rocks and little branches pining to our feet. We start to here loud and blatant snorts, and I move two branches slowly out of my way, and there lying on the beach on the other side of the island there is a group of pigs. Before we go in I tell the hunters my plan. "Listen up, we are going to go to a pig and we are going to trap it." " When we get close to it we are going to get in a circle and trap i by closing in on it." "Follow me." I slowly walked onto the beach step by step, with he rest following after me. Then the pigs see us and start to run. The sound of the pigs hooves sound castanet as they run away from Me an my hunters.  We all stay still and I yell, "CHARGE!" We all run after a pig that struggles where to go. we close in on it. It tries to escape but we close in faster. We walk in as close as we can. Then  I chant out " Kill the pig, cut her throat, bash her in!" We cut her and stab her and hang her on a stake. She hangs on the floor of the sandy beach, and I cut off her head. Gouts of  blood pored everywhere, it was amazing.  We take her body back, for it is getting late. Her body is tendril. We jog through the forest and we reach the beach where we meet up with Ralph and the others.

We run up to Ralph and the others and we shout out " We got Meat, we got meat!" Ralph doesn't care, but he seems disappointed.  He says to me " You let the fire got out." I tell him that we got meat, but he repeats himself again. " You let the fire go out." We needed Sam and Eric to hunt with us, other wise my plan wouldn't work.  Ralph says " "There was a ship." Then he yells out, " You let the fire got out!!!" He keeps yelling.  "We could have been home right now!" When he says he saw the ship I new what I did was a bad choice. I wanted to ignore it but I couldn't. So I apologized, and was truly contrite. We all were sorry and hung our heads in shame. As we stand there sitting by the fire we sigh. Ralph walks away in frustration. I sit on a log and think as horizon slips away in the night.

Chapter 2: Lord of the Flies

Fire to Fire

Simons Journal:

I follow the other boys as we are gathered for a meeting on the beach. Ralph starts to speak of a conch, I assume they are talking about the shell they used as a horn to gather us boys together. Everyone starts to murmur until Ralph starts to speak.
Ralph says that since there are no grown ups here on this island we need to make our own rules. First if we want to say something you have to be holding the conch. Then the fat boy Piggy starts to speak yelling about how no one knows that we have landed on this island, and that we would be on this island for a long time. Then I realized that as everyone was ignoring, i was paying attention. I realized that he was right and that we would be here for a long time because we are in the middle of no where. Then I realized we weren't in England anymore. I know there are no jungles and England and that we were far from home. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere only but surrounded by water.

When fatty over there, i mean Piggy stopped talking attention was all on a little boy with a mulberry marking on his face. He yelled out, "I, I saw a beastie, a beastie in the forest, last night in the woods." He seemed like a ebullience child.
I looked at Ralph, and Jack, and some of the other boys. Then back at the little boy standing before us all. I looked at Ralph and Jack again and we started to snigger. We said, "it was just a nightmare." "We all had them."

As the little boy with the mulberry marking went on about the beastie Ralph had an idea. " He said, if we were to be find we would have to make a signal." We decided it should be a fire. The smoke from the fire would warn others that someone was on the island we are on now. The mountain would be the best place to make the fire because it was the highest point on the island. Jack yelled out, " up the mountain" I followed him and the rest of the boys up the mountain. We went to fin would and would pile it until there was enough. The little boy with the mulberry marking on his face suggested to go fin some fresh fruit. I run to trees and trying to find loose branches, and searching the ground for some too. The forest is like a stampede every one racing to hurry and start the fire. We are all officious to get the fire started.

I toss the last couple branches into the pile. We all step back for Jack starts to make the fire with the sun , but what else will help start the fire. He has the idea of using Piggy's glasses. I pinch them from his face, Piggy gets annoyed. I observe, and the fire starts as spark and the it grows burning the branches one by one. We toss Piggy back his glasses. The fire burned our eyes, but watching it was compulsion. Then as everything goes so well, the fire catches onto some dry weeds leading up the tree, and the fire grows bigger and bigger burning the forest down. As the fire roars in my ear I try to block the sound out. Something felt wrong, and not because the fire was loose. I think, and then the words haunt me, " lets pick some fresh fruit from the forest. The little boy in the forest all alone, with the fire loose. I stand there with the fires light and smoke burning my eyes.

Post #1: Lord Of The Flies

"Fatty" or "Piggy"

Piggy's Journal:

I met Ralph on the beach and we introduced ourselves to each other. I told him what the boys at school called me. I told him they used to call me "Piggy". He started to laugh, and yelled out Piggy! Piggy! I told him to stop and not to tell anyone. He stopped and it became silent.

We start to wonder after a while what ever happened to the other boys after the evacuation plane crash. I say that the plane must have crashed from being shot at so there must be a lot of other boys around on this island, so we wanted to find away to see. I looked around and saw a big creme colored shell in the ground. Ralph picks it up. It's a conch I say, we can use to call for the other boys. I told Ralph how to blow it. I told him my friend use to have one and he blew in it like spit kind of blow. Ralph tries and tries, and finally blows out a deep sound that echos through out the island jungle. Birds fly out of the trees from everywhere as the voice of the conch shell echoes. Ralph blows again and little boys start to appear out from the jungle.

The first to appear at the oldest was around twelve, and the others around six and five. I start to take names. As I am taking names from the children, A group of older boys dressed in black gowns walked down the beach in parallel line with one of the motif older boy stood out in the front looked like the leader. I turn tow colored, and I don't ask for the older boys name. The boys name is Jack he starts to taunt me with a nickname by calling me "fatty". Then Ralph yells out that my name it isn't "fatty", but is Piggy. All the boys start to snigger at me, and I can feel a suffusion of red on my face from the embarrassment. I thought I could trust Ralph, but I guess I was wrong.

After the embarrassing moment they started too choose a leader for all the groups of boys. Jacks choir votes for him, but all the other boys vote for Ralph. Ralph wins, though Jack wants the position. Now that they have picked a leader it is time for him and two others to explore the environment. I proffered to go with them, and whined to but, instead he calls up Jack and one of his choir boy. The three boys leave the beach to go explore the new land, while Piggy is stuck with the little ones. While he is watching them kids he decides to take more names, until the three boys come back.
